The Institute of Sound, Communications and Visual Engineers (ISCVE) and the Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS) are pleased to announce the launch of a new ECS AV Engineer card for existing and newly accredited ISCVE members.
This recent introduction of the ECS AV Engineer card is in addition to the existing ECS card for Sound Engineers which is available exclusively through the ISCVE.
Administered by the Joint Industry Board (JIB) in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, ECS is the sole ID and competence card scheme for electrotechnical related occupations which is recognised and endorsed by the industry. ECS is a partner of the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS), issuing cards for those working in an electrotechnical related occupation.
The term ‘electrotechnical’ covers many occupations including electricians, sound engineers, network infrastructure installers, fire, emergency & security system operatives and now AV engineers.
A valid ECS card is often a compulsory requirement when working in venues or on UK construction sites. Partnered with CSCS the ECS card scheme requires all applicants to hold an up-to-date ECS health and safety awareness assessment in addition to the qualification requirements of ISCVE current membership for all ECS card applications.
Helen Goddard, President for ISCVE comments, ‘We are delighted with this latest approval from ECS to allow the Institute to assess and renew ECS cards for AV Engineers. Since 2017 we have successfully assessed and processed more than five hundred ECS cards for Sound Engineers for ISCVE members’.
‘With the Institute’s added emphasis on AV, following our rebrand last year to ISCVE, this latest development allows us to fully recognise and reach our membership with an ECS card matched to their skillsets, allowing them to choose either a Sound Engineer or AV Engineer ECS card’.
‘We have been working on this project in the background for some time and are extremely pleased to be recognised by the ECS for this latest accreditation. We have updated our website to allow members to apply for their ECS cards very simply online, with immediate effect’, concludes Goddard.
