New e-com store for leading UK stationery and art supplies shop

Following the successful launch of their new e-Bay shop and product listings in April 2022, leading independent UK stationery retailer LBM UK Limited, operating as LBM Art & Stationery Store in Hitchin, Hertfordshire asked us to build an online website and e-com store for their business.

Being one of the largest independent retails for Filofax® diary and notepad refills, Pilot® Pens, Pentel Pens, Uni-Ball stationery products and Winsor & Newton art supplies, the catalogue of products available from LBM Art & Stationery Store is vast.

Originally established in 1959, the company has successfully delivered hundreds of thousands of orders to more than 250,000 customers via its e-Bay and Amazon sales channels in recent years, in addition to the B2B and B2C sales made in-store and over the telephone.

For this project, as a Shopify Partner, we opted to build the new website for LBM using the Shopify e-commerce platform. With unlimited flexibility and the ability to grow, with a new or already established business we felt a Shopify solution provides the slickest solution for LBM and their customers.

“Having built e-com stores lots of different ways over the years, using lots of platforms including bespoke options, WooCommerce solutions and Magento solutions, for us Shopify provides customers and users with the best experiences.

Scalability is crucial for nearly all businesses and Shopify provides entry level, cost effective solutions through to enterprise solutions that grow with all businesses, seamlessly”.

Nick Spalding, Director, TGA

With LBM’s existing e-Bay and Amazon sales channels providing thousands of transactions, it is crucial LBM’s new website integrates directly with those channels, providing seamless integrations with carrier services including Royal Mail and DPD too.

Launched with more than 400+ products listed and new products are being added weekly, to improve LBM’s online presence for the brands it represents so well in its other channels, LBM’s online presence continues to grow.

Future developments will include streamlining LBM’s in-house POS systems so that orders in store and over the telephone will also be handled more easily, integrating with all of LBM’s other sales channels.

For the creative elements of this project we once again were delighted to collaborate with Keith Robbins, Creative Director at Handsome Design who has succesfully been working with Paul at LBM for a number of years.

“It is important for us and our customers that we continue to expand our online presence to make it easier for customers to do business with us, whichever sales channel they prefer to use.

We have a fantastic availability of stock, due to continued re-investment over many years, which means customers can order from us with confidence. We have a brilliant track record with e-Bay, Amazon and in-store, so I am excited to expand our offer to include online web ordering for customers too”.

Paul Hagger, Managing Director, LBM UK Limited.
