Hints On Great Content
So you produced some great content and you’re upset because it didn't attract the audience it might have? Apart from wondering if your expectations were too high, there are a multitude of reasons why your content may not get read.
I did not find it - you did not distribute it.
I hear this feedback from new clients. Customers tell them they did not receive their previously sent content. Now this may be true or perhaps they didn’t catch their attention.
This is no surprise with millions upon millions of websites, newsletters and emails competing for attention.
With content marketing, the content with the best distribution strategy generally wins.
Even if your content is far better, it is likely to fail if you do not have a well thought out distribution strategy.
And if you did distribute it and still it didn't find any readers, perhaps your content or targeting was slightly off?
The headline didn’t draw attention
In social marketing headline is crucial.
I am sure we all recall posts that do not capture us with the headline so we do not go any further?
Creating a perfect headline is an art (we may be able to help you) and if you get it wrong your content will fail in its strategy.
You didn’t include an image
All social media platforms require you to share images to leverage their full reach potential. Gone are the days when a simple post or update was sufficient.
I already read it somewhere else
Do not copy and paste the same content you’ve seen somewhere else. The chances are your audience has too!
Too Many Banners
I don’t know about you but I cannot bear to labour with web pages or content that have too many pop-up banners or sign-ups constantly nagging me to take action? And if your content loads too slowly, I’ve already moved on.
Your content has no rhythm
Content needs to be snappy and informative. Sentences that are too long just turn people away. Keep it snappy.
Understand your Analytics
What I love most about marketing online is the analytics or insights available on all platforms. They let you know how you are doing and how your content is being received. If you’re ignoring your analytics you are missing opportunities to understand your audience.
In Summary
Creating engaging content is an art.
Understanding its reach and leverage is another.
It is no longer enough just to produce great content, you must assess, analyse and adjust based upon performance, otherwise you’re potentially wasting your time.
